How Do Stablecoin Costs Break Down?
When buying USDT or USDC with local currency, the sticker price is never the full cost. Three types of fees stack up:
- P2P Premium — the markup sellers charge above the market rate (typically 1–5%).
- Trading Fee — the platform's cut (0% on most P2P, 1–4.5% on on-ramps).
- Gas Fee — the blockchain transaction cost to withdraw your stablecoins (varies by chain).
Our calculator combines all three to show you the real cost of each method, so you can pick the cheapest route every time. After buying, put your stablecoins to work with DeFi lending or spend them on gift cards.

The cost of buying stablecoins like USDT and USDC varies significantly depending on your country, payment method, and the platform you use. Three fees stack up to form the total cost: the P2P premium (the markup local sellers charge above the market rate, typically 0.5% to 20%), the trading or platform fee (0% on P2P, 1-4.5% on card-based on-ramps), and the blockchain gas fee for withdrawing to your own wallet ($0.01 on Solana to $2.50 on Ethereum). In countries with open banking systems like South Korea or the EU, total costs can be as low as 0.3%. In countries with capital controls like Nigeria or Argentina, premiums alone can exceed 10-20%. This interactive calculator uses real-time P2P data from Binance, OKX, Bybit, and HTX, updated every 10 minutes from verified merchant order books, to show the actual cost of acquiring stablecoins across 80 countries. Select your country and enter the amount you want to buy to see a side-by-side comparison of every available method, ranked from cheapest to most expensive.
